"I made B! Awesome so that other kids can learn to play ball. It is also so other kids can B! Awesome to other kids." - Colin

It all started when we were told in Filipino class to read an article about Kesz Valdez, the winner of the 2012 International Children's Peace Prize. His story inspired me to do the same, except different. In Social Studies class, I also learned that we should all have equal rights. Then, I thought of the many poor children in the Philippines who might not have one of the most important rights, the right to play. As children, we all have played with toys, games, things like that, who hasn't? However, less fortunate kids might not play as much for various reasons. These can be because they are forced by their parents to work, they do not have money to play, and others.
I chose to promote basketball because I love the sport. It is a team building game. You cannot score if no one rebounds the ball. You cannot shoot if no one passes the ball to you. Team chemistry is needed to win, like the San Antonio Spurs, who won a lot of championships because they work together. So on my tenth birthday in 2017, I decided not to have a regular birthday and instead hold a basketball camp for children suffering child abuse, and use my birthday money to buy them basketballs. It was THE best birthday I ever had. I decided to do it again and threw an early Christmas party at Brgy. GK Escopa. Toby's Sports heard about me and I asked if he could sponsor the basketballs. I was very happy that he was able to help us out (shout out to him, by the way). Nearing Christmas, my American friends wanted to do the same thing while they were in the Philippines, so we held another camp for the children of Little Lights Ministry. This Summer of 2018 I plan to hold a mini tournament for them. I need your help to make these children happy. If you want to help, you can click the button below.
